Exhibition Documentary, 2006 Cinematographer: Verena Maas Running time: 6 minutes (VIDEOBOX) @ WHITE BOX presents SOUNDTRACK TO WAR by Director/Producer/Cinematographer George Gittoes
American culture came to Iraq wired into its tanks
and helicopters -- a live soundtrack to war with lyrics
such as "Let the Bodies Hit the Floor" that are forever
linked to the violent events they accompanied. Gittoes'
film takes us into spontaneous performances creating
music in the hell of war. Gittoes travelled alone to Iraq
four times between March 2003 and May 2004 to
capture the footage for this documentary and images
for his multimedia art practice.
